The Land of Smiles, as many refer to Thailand, relates to its generous and loving population. It could also be referred to as the land of great diversity, both environmentally and culturally. To see this amazing diversity of culture and the differing ecosystems within Thailand, it will take planning and no doubt various methods of transportation.

For example, Thailand is blessed with being at the convergence of two of the worlds most diverse and contrasting biological zones. Almost straight through the middle of the Isthmus of Kra the Sino–Himalayan and Sundaic biological zones meet. This creates a diversity of species in both flora and fauna between the north and south. Within these respective regions there are again diverse and spectacular micro ecosystems influenced by their own micro climates and the types of vegetation that is found there.

The cultures of the North East, North West, Central Plains and Southern peninsular are also diverse and to visit Thailand and only see one of these areas is to miss out on a whole wealth of cultural and environmental splendor which is so easy to access.

This section of thailandecoportal.com will help you plan your journey through “The Land of Great Diversity” and prepare you for the trip ahead.

Whilst having a great infrastructure for travel there are also a few things to watch out for and consider. In order to make the most out of your journey check through our list of Dangers and Annoyances, prepare yourself to have a few hiccups along the way and most of all relax into the Thai “Sabai” way of traveling. If you miss your bus, another is never far away, use your initiative, check with the locals and delve into the smaller towns that can be found along the way.

We also recommend you use local amenities, guesthouses, home-stays and local transport. That way you really can make a difference to the rural economies of Thailand, travel responsibly and experience a side of this country that will keep you coming back for more!

Happy Travels!
